Rhode Island And New Hampshire Consider Mandatory GMO Labeling
On a 12-7 vote, the committee majority filed a report that suggests New Hampshire should support national labeling as outlined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the “SmartLabel” being developed by the food industry.
A bipartisan majority of the New Hampshire Environment and Agriculture Committee led by Rep. John O’Connor, has recommended against passage of House Bill (HB) 1674, saying requiring labeling of genetically engineered foods was previously rejected by General Court, and remains unnecessary.

Individual U.S. Ports To Determine Container Weight Mandate For Exports
The enforcement of the SOLAS container weight mandate for U.S. exports will be done by each port, and the U.S. Coast Guard will only get involved if it boards an incoming vessel and finds it doesn’t have verified gross mass for each box.
The mandate, under an amendment to the International Maritime Organization’s, Safety of Life at Sea, or SOLAS, convention originally approved in 2014, prevents carriers from shipping any containers without the verified gross mass of each container.

The condiments’ ingredients are not included on the chopped romaine labels and therefore pose an allergen threat for people with food allergies or sensitivities to milk, eggs, wheat and fish.
The romaine from the Salinas, Calif., company primarily went to retail stores in Eastern and Southern states, according to the notice. Individual states are: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia.

The proposed fee, which would be paid by oil companies and phased in over five years, was quickly met with scorn by lawmakers in the Republican-controlled Congress.
