Brookshire Grocery Company and Shoppers Value announced they will be purchasing former Winn-Dixie grocery stores. BGC will acquire eight stores in southern Louisiana, while Shoppers Value will break into the New Orleans market by purchasing seven stores, including three in Mississippi.
It will take three to six months to renovate the Winn-Dixie stores and open them under the Shoppers Value banner. The project is aimed to be completed by September. All current employees will be able to keep their jobs.
Meanwhile,BGC employees will have the opportunity to interview at their current store for ongoing positions. The stores will undergo a brief transition period and reopen as BGC in a matter of days.
