Minneapolis: General Mills announced the acquisition of Parampara's branded range of ready-to-cook spice and sauce mixes produced in Pune, India, and sold under the Parampara, StarterZ and Curry Tree brands.
Parampara's products are marketed primarily in the Pune region of western India and exported to countries like the United States, Canada and Japan. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"The acquisition of Parampara Food Products' strong portfolio of brands strengthens our ability to help bring home-cooked meals to the family table and positions General Mills India for continued growth," said Vijay Sood, vice president, executive director of General Mills India. "We want to expand on Parampara's potential to bring convenient meal solutions for our consumers across India and around the world.
"Indian consumers – like many working couples around the world – are increasingly pressed for time," Sood explained. "Parampara's ready-to-cook spice and sauce mixes bring simple, great-tasting meal solutions and traditional Indian flavors to cooking around the world."
Parampara's products join General Mills' growing portfolio of consumer favorites in India, including Pillsbury Fresh & Multi Grain Atta and dessert mixes, Betty Crocker dessert mixes, Green Giant vegetables, Nature Valley granola bars and Häagen-Dazs super-premium ice cream. Headquartered in Mumbai, General Mills India also has a vibrant export and Bakeries & Foodservice operation.
