Americold Acquires Storage Facility in Georgia

Americold, a provider of temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics to the food industry, has purchased of a temperature-controlled storage facility in East Point, Ga., bolstering the company’s Georgia-based facility network to 15 and controlling more than 90 million cubic feet of capacity.

“We’re fortunate to be supporting some very successful food producers and retailers who are rapidly expanding throughout the Southeast. They needed additional, dedicated capacity and challenged us to become their provider of choice,” said Fred Boehler, president and CEO of Americold. “The East Point site is centrally accessible within the Atlanta metro area and is a critical component of our Atlanta distribution strategy. It will complement our existing network very well.”

“The city of East Point, Ga. has a long standing tradition of being an active community regarding its citizens. The Americold facility purchase and subsequent hiring from the local community is a very exciting prospect for us,” said Maceo Rogers, director of East Point’s department of economic development. The site is expected to add more than 60 new jobs as it ramps up operations during the second half of 2016.
