Americold, a global provider of temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics to the food industry, officially opened its most recent facility in East Point, Georgia. The 260,000 square-foot temperature-controlled site, purchased in July 2016, reflects the expansion of Americold’s partnership with Sprouts Farmers Market as Sprouts increases its healthy grocery footprint to more than 250 stores in 15 states in 2017.

“The opening of our East Point site allows us to support Sprouts and other food retailers that are rapidly expanding throughout the Southeast. We’re very happy to bring new jobs and career opportunities to our hometown Atlanta community,” commented Fred Boehler, president and CEO of Americold. “Americold is thrilled to be able to work with Sprouts as an anchor tenant in this facility and provide the additional dedicated capacity needed as it continues to expand its healthy grocery operations from coast to coast.”

The East Point site will serve as a temperature-controlled distribution center for Sprouts’ southeastern operations, which will expand considerably in 2017. The site offers two temperature zones at 34°F and 55°F—ideal for Sprouts’ fresh produce warehousing needs.

“The City of East Point is a great location for Americold’s new facility, and the investment and creation of more than 80 jobs will certainly help grow the city’s economy. Americold’s decision to come here underscores East Point as a strategic location for the food services industry in metro Atlanta. We are happy that it’s part of the East Point family now and we look forward to a long-lasting future together,” commented Maceo Rogers, director of East Point’s Department of Economic Development.

In the USA, Americold owns and operates more than 145 facilities in every major food production and consumption market. With public refrigerated warehouses, port-specific facilities, customer-dedicated sites, managed facilities, and national less-than-truckload and truckload transportation programs, Americold’s suite of temperature-controlled supply chain solutions for the food and beverage industry is large in scale and scope, and supports the storage and distribution of products for local artisans, regional and national enterprises, and international organizations alike.
