Canada Recalls Hummus For Undeclared Sesame

Those who purchased these items and are allergic to sesame are advised to discard them or return to the place of purchase for a refund.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Green Table Foods are recalling four types of organic hummus because they contain sesame seeds that are not declared on the label, according to Food Poisoning Bulletin. Anyone with an allergy to sesame could have a serious reaction if they consume this product. There is no word on whether or not any adverse reactions have been reported to date.

The recalled products are all Green Table Foods brand and all are in 250 gram containers. All codes where sesame is not declared on the label are recalled. They are Organic Beet Hummus with UPC number 1 80071 00007 6; Organic Black Bean Hummus with UPC number 1 80071 00009 0; Organic Chickpea Hummus with UPC number 1 80071 00006 9; and Organic Spicy Hummus with UPC number 1 80071 00008 3. They were sold in Ontario at the retail level.
