Alpine Fresh Selects HarvestMark Traceability For Its Asparagus Brands

HarvestMark traceability to begin appearing on Alpine Fresh Asparagus this month.

Redwood City, CA: Alpine Fresh, a major packer and shipper of asparagus, has selected YottaMark Inc.’s HarvestMark for its item-level traceability program.

“The HarvestMark item-level traceability solution gives us the ability to engage with consumers and continuously improve our quality and freshness to better meet their needs,” said Walter Yager, CEO of Alpine Fresh. “We are proud to say that we are one of a few companies worldwide that have obtained independent social certification. This is proof to our commitment to do the right thing. Adding HarvestMark traceability further demonstrates our commitment to being a leader in meeting customers’ needs.”

Founded in 1988 with a goal of bridging the gap between growers of fresh fruits and vegetables in Latin America and customers in the United States, Alpine Fresh is known for providing reliability and unparalleled quality to its customers. Alpine Fresh specializes in asparagus, berries, French beans, snap peas and mangoes, and handles more than nine million packages of these items annually.

Starting this month, consumers will be able trace their Alpine Fresh asparagus at the touch of an iPhone or through the HarvestMark website, where they can get food safety information and learn more about where, when, and how their asparagus was grown.

“We’re pleased to be working with Alpine Fresh to support their continued commitment to innovation, food safety, and consumer engagement,” said J. Scott Carr, president and CEO, YottaMark. “Our recent market research underscores the value that consumers place on reconnecting with the people who grow and provide their fresh food. Alpine Fresh’s partnership with HarvestMark delivers new food safety tools to retain buyers, and opens the door to powerful new connections with consumers.”
