Indian Tea Industry Institutes Sustainable Practices

The Indian tea industry has created a sustainability code called Trustea. This initiative according to Shatadru Chattopadhyay, director of the sustainable supply chain company Solidaridad, said “the adoption level of sustainable production standards across all segments of the industry is yet to reach the optimum level.” However, the industry is hopeful that code will become more widely adopted.
