
IBM and Walmart have partnered together to use blockchains to help keep food fresh. The two have been working closely together since 2016 to help develop a software to track food for safety reasons.
Currently, it takes up to a week to recall a food product. With the blockchain technology that IBM and Walmart are developing, it can take two seconds. The software is able to track products through its supply chains from farmer to the consumer, so they know exactly where the outbreak could have started.
An app for consumers to use to track their food is in talks of being made.
