Autonomous delivery developer Starship Technologies partners with verification technology platform Veriff to push autonomous delivery forward, by creating a way for shippers to verify recipients ages for age restricted items. Now that alcohol delivery is now an established and popular part of the last-mile industry, those looking to tap autonomous delivery technologies must look for ways like this to verify age and identity. Veriff says that this endeavor is the first fully autonomous end to end delivery service for age restricted items. Customers will be able to order items and have it delivered by an autonomous fleet, which is trackable on the Starship app. Once arrived at the destination, the autonomous technologies will tap Veriff's identification service which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to identify the recipient.

  • Through the Starship Food Delivery app on iOS and Android, users choose from a range of their favorite food or drink items, then drop a pin where they want their delivery to be sent. Users can then watch as the robot makes its journey to them via an interactive map. Once the robot arrives, they receive an alert, and can then meet and unlock it through the app once their identity has been verified through Veriff’s seamless biometric authentication technology at the time of delivery.
