Government Shutdown Stalls US-EU Free-Trade Talks

Negotiations for a major free-trade agreement between the European Union and the U.S. have been postponed because of the partial government shutdown

If you haven't heard enough bad news about the United States government and it's "shutdown," it appears that scheduled talks between the European Union and US officials in Brussels next week to discuss the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, or TTIP, have been postponed by Washington.

Successful talks were expected to reach agreement on what would be the world’s largest free-trade pact, one that could eliminate all trade tariffs, while bolstering investments and market access between the U.S. and EU member-states.
