David Beasley, executive director of the World Food Program, warned that the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic weakened global food supply chains.
According to CBS News, the pandemic placed further stress on countries’ supply chains that were already struggling to feed their populations.
Per CBS News:
- 10% of the global population is in extreme poverty.
- Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced that his country will host a global coordination center for regional “food innovation hubs.”
- The World Economic will help address “food system challenges.”
