Chiquita Brands International’s salad division, Fresh Express Inc., is recalling bagged, chopped romaine because a production line error resulted in condiment packets for other products being included in the romaine bags, according to Food Safety News.

The condiments’ ingredients are not included on the chopped romaine labels and therefore pose an allergen threat for people with food allergies or sensitivities to milk, eggs, wheat and fish, according to the recall notice on the Food and Drug Administration website.

“… even though the individual packets are enclosed in another sealed package, Fresh Express issued a recall out of an abundance of caution to protect the health and well-being of consumers who may be at risk from exposure to undeclared allergens,” the company said in the recall notice.

The recalled 32-ounce Fresh Express branded chopped romaine lettuce bags have a use-by date of Feb. 19 and a product code of G034A06A both on the upper right of the front of the bags. The back of the packaging has a universal product code of 0 7127926100 3 near the product bar code.
