Imported Foods Still Pose Health Risks

Laws that better address food safety import conditions were included within the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). But according to Food Safety News, they are “languishing at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), an office inside the White House that is notorious for blocking, weakening, and delaying the rules that it reviews.” Meanwhile unsanitary conditions for imported foods pose serious and daily health risks.
