Maersk to Vamp its Warehouse Presence

A.P. Moller-Maersk will focus on digital technologies that simplify customers' increasingly complex supply chains, turning toward global warehousing and distribution services.

Over the last two years, A.P. Moller - Maersk has invested in digitization by acquiring startups, digital forward, blockchain, data management and freight brokerages. 

Now the company will focus on digital technologies that simplify customers' increasingly complex supply chains, turning toward global warehousing and distribution services. According to FreightWaves, the services will be boosted by by JDA's warehouse management solutions.

With the addition of JDA's cloud-based solutions, Maersk will expand the range and flexibility of its delivery services from existing locations by improving efficiency while lowering inventory costs. 

The solution will first be deployed in Gothenburg, Sweden and in the U.S. in Newark, New Jersey and Santa Fe, New Mexico in the fourth quarter this year. FreightWaves reports that the sites will also be used to build a template for rollout across Maersk warehouse facilities worldwide.
