Preferred Freezer Services Completes Construction in the San Francisco Bay Area

The San Leandro facility is the company’s seventh cold storage facility in California and the 33rd worldwide.

Preferred Freezer Services (PFS), a global provider in design and engineered temperature-controlled warehouses, announced the newest addition to its continually expanding footprint in San Leandro, Calif. The San Leandro facility is the company’s seventh cold storage facility in California and the 33rd worldwide.

This new, 250,000-square-foot facility has 15 million cubic feet of storage capacity, an oversized truck yard space, 23 dock doors with levelers, and a customer favorite Preferred Freezer Services online information system. The cold storage warehouse offers three different temperature zones providing cold chain distributors the opportunity to store a wide range of products under one roof. Temperature compartments include a cooler at 34°F to 38°F degrees, a freezer at 0°F, and a low-temperature freezer at -20°F capable of handling ice cream.

“Our existing and new customer demand in the San Francisco Bay Area for additional cold storage space has continued to grow over the last three years and we are thrilled to finally be able to meet those requests,” said John Galiher, chief executive officer of Preferred Freezer Services. The construction project began in October, 2013 on a 15-acre former lumber site. Preferred Freezer Services of San Leandro was scheduled to start accepting product on June 16, 2014. An open house celebration will follow in the fall.
