The United Fresh Produce Association and 21 other organizations have asked the FDA to extend the comment period on the proposed Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food rules by 90 more days to Aug. 29.

Lawmakers in both chambers have said the temporary patch will provide time for them to finish work on a long-sought multiyear highway funding bill.
