Turkey Tracking Available Just in Time for Thanksgiving

Consumers can use the tracker to trace their fresh or frozen JENNIE-O whole turkey back to its originating farm.

Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Jennie-O Turkey Store, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hormel Foods, has launched its online Turkey Tracker. Consumers can use the tracker to trace their fresh or frozen JENNIE-O whole turkey back to its originating farm.

Each fresh and frozen turkey package will have a tracking code stamped to its package hang tag. Consumers can enter the code into the JENNIE-O Turkey Tracker page on the company's website and view where the bird was raised along with a description about the farmers.

Transparency into the food supply chain has become increasingly more important to consumers as the number of recalls has raised significantly this past summer. Through the Turkey Tracker, the JENNIE-O brand is increasing is visibility and provides customers this information while showcasing its valued partners.

"We are proud that a majority of our turkeys are raised on farms located in Minnesota and western Wisconsin," says Heather Carr, director of whole turkey sales at Jennie-O Turkey Store. "We felt it was important to introduce our local farm partners to our consumers and for them to see the hard work and passion our farmers put in everyday to ensure the highest quality animal care for their turkeys."

The JENNIE-O brand will also include other tools besides the Turkey Tracker to help consumers plan their Thanksgiving meal, including menus, recipes and calculators that determine when to start thawing out the turkey.
