Santa Monica, CA: CaseStack has joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership, an innovative collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and commercial, industrial and public sector organizations designed to significantly reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution.
CaseStack’s association with the SmartWay Transport Partnership reflects their long-term corporate commitment to improving and developing efficiency-focused programs that significantly cut carbon emissions, reduce waste and drive down logistics costs, both for their customers and throughout the industry.
“We are very excited about the opportunities that CaseStack’s partnership with SmartWay brings to both organizations,” CaseStack president and CEO Dan Sanker says. “Our commitment to implementing efficient, sustainable supply chain solutions is perfectly aligned with the SmartWay Transport Partnership initiatives.”
Sustainability is an inherent and ever-present aspect of CaseStack’s efficiency-based business model, with “going green” as the foundation of cost-effective supply chain solutions. CaseStack’s warehousing and transportation solutions are based on a common sense model – combine LTL shipments into a cost-saving full truckload, help streamline packaging, build partnerships with efficient carriers and eliminate waste from the ordering and tracking process.
CaseStack achieves this goal through various programs, including the Retailer Consolidation Program, the Delivered Green carrier certification, a Cost Savings and Emissions Calculator and a proprietary technology platform that integrates and streamlines the supply chain management process.
Launched in February 2004, the SmartWay Transport Partnership brings together major freight shippers, trucking companies, railroads, logistics companies and trade/professional associations to pursue mutually beneficial strategies that result in emissions reductions and other environmental improvements, as well as cost savings to the companies. The Partnership currently has over 2,600 partners.
CaseStack will contribute to the Partnership’s goal to reduce 33 million to 66 million metric tons of carbon dioxide and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide per year by 2012 by improving the environmental performance of the company’s freight operations. Carbon dioxide is the most common greenhouse gas and nitrogen oxide is an air pollutant that contributes to smog.
