Farmbox Direct brings 100 percent USDA certified organic seasonal, and pesticide-free produce to customers weekly on a subscription basis from New York to Washington D.C.

Farmbox Direct offers three different size boxes ranging from $36.95 to $58.95. Following the company’s launch in Manhattan and Brooklyn, Farmbox Direct has expanded throughout the East Coast and plans to expand and serve customers nationally. This September, Farmbox will make its first moves on the national stage, releasing a monthly subscription box stocked with up to 12 packaged snacks—everything from popcorn and cookies to rice—that will ship out on the 15th of the month. Prices will range from $20 to $30, and customers can elect to continue ordering any of the products in future deliveries.

“I started Farmbox Direct with a vision of how food should be which is why my goal is to bring the farmers market in its best purity to customer’s doors,” said Ashley Tyrner, Farmbox Direct’s founder and CEO. “Having been raised on a farm and brought up by a family of farmers in the Midwest, I’ve come to understand how much care should go into the food we eat by those who grow it.

“After becoming a single mother with a new career in fashion, and living off food stamps while I got back on my feet, I became even more cautious about what I bought and ate and what I fed my daughter. I knew there was a market for what I needed and it was my job to bring fresh, organic produce to people’s doorsteps. I am fortunate enough to personally engage every farmer, artisan, and vendor we work with – and if they’re not local or organic, then we won’t carry their produce.

“I want to make real, nutritious food a given in the diet of every American. By eating by the seasons, we are eating foods when they are at their peak taste, are the most abundant, and the least expensive. I want to lower the negative connotations of organic produce, and showcase the many health benefits of a fresh diet. I want to draw the ‘you are what you eat’ connection even closer to everyone I deliver to, one box at a time.”
