All products produced at McCain Foods’ Colton, California facility have been voluntarily recalled after the company identified a potential health risk related to its fire roasted, caramelized or sautéed frozen vegetable and fruit products, which are all produced at the facility.
McCain Foods has received no reports of illnesses associated with the consumption of these products to date, but says it is issuing the voluntary recall as a precautionary measure for the safety of consumers.
“We are working in cooperation with our customers and the appropriate regulatory authorities and will provide any appropriate updates,” the company said in a statement. “We take our commitment to food safety very seriously and work hard to maintain the highest quality standards in our manufacturing processes.”
More than 755.5 tons of additional meat and poultry products were recalled by a half-dozen companies over the weekend for containing various vegetables apparently supplied by McCain over potential contamination from both Salmonella and Listeria pathogens, Food Safety News reports.
