A blockchain trial has boosted supply chain efficiency by 28 percent for PepsiCo, according to CoinDesk. The trial, known as Project Proton, determined whether blockchain could address industry challenges in programmatic advertising.
PepsiCo and partner Mindshare used a programmatic end-to-end supply chain reconciliation using Zilliqa's blockchain platform. The companies compared a control budget with a test one to gauge the effectiveness of the blockchain. The companies saw results that showed increases in viewable impressions when running the campaign through smart contracts.
The partners plan to run a second phase later this year with the addition of payments to publishers and more performance metrics.
