Rubicon, BioHitech Combine To Offer Food Waste Technology

On-going food waste measurement is key to understanding any waste profile, in order to best to prevent food waste as part of a sustainable strategy.

Rubicon Global Holdings LLC has announced a partnership with BioHitech America LLC to market BioHitech’s food waste digester and digital cloud platform.

The Atlanta-based Rubicon, which offers waste and recycling solutions, said in a news release that it is adding the Allendale, N.J.-based BioHitech’s Eco-Safe Digester and the BioHitech Cloud.

The Eco-Safe Digester is a data-driven, network-based technology changing waste into nutrient-neutral water that can be safely disposed of through municipal sewer systems.

The BioHitech Cloud, a proprietary cloud platform hosted by Amazon, delivers real-time data providing a waste profile that allows for better purchasing and staffing decisions, and improved efficiencies.

Rubicon said it believes that on-going food waste measurement is key to understanding any waste profile in order to best to prevent it as part of a sustainable strategy.

The Eco-Safe Digester and BioHitech Cloud are currently installed in Rubicon's Marriott customer platform, with plans of expanding the deployments nationwide in 2014. Currently, more than 15 corporate leaders as well as state and federal government agencies are using BioHitech's products and services in 36 states and seven countries.

"The combination of an advanced analytical tool and an efficient and effective organic waste disposal technology creates the perfect solution for our clients. Our goal is to first eliminate the generation of waste and then process whatever residual is left in a more environmentally sound, cost effective fashion,” said Perry Moss, Rubicon president.

Added Frank Celli, CEO of BioHitech America," "We continue to deploy capital toward the improvement of our digester and cloud technology with more great features coming in 2014."
