January 15, 2001 -- Two Honeywell organizations have jointly selected PurchasePro, an enabler of e-commerce solutions for companies of all sizes, to create e-marketplaces to help their respective users save time, streamline their procurement processes, and cut overall procurement costs.

PurchasePro will create two e-marketplaces and establish an e-procurement system for the following Honeywell organizations: A private e-marketplace and e-procurement system for the North American supply chain management function of Honeywell Home and Building Control's Enterprise Service Solutions (ESS) business that provides products and services to help facility customers improve their productivity and competitiveness. All ESS-authorized suppliers will be brought together into the private marketplace, enabling more than 1,000 North American users to request bids, compare prices, and order online. PurchasePro services will include the education of North American ESS buyers, the aggregation of more than 1,000 Honeywell buyers and suppliers, and facilitating the integration of PurchasePro's technology into the ESS corporate financial system.

In addition, PurchasePro will create a public e-marketplace and e-procurement system for myFacilities.com, a Honeywell-sponsored portal, launched last June. Aimed at facility managers and the contractors who support them, the portal provides a wide range of online resources and services. PurchasePro's e-commerce solutions will enable Honeywell's ESS business to monitor the procurement process of its North American branch offices. Upon completion, ESS supply management employees will have the real-time ability to track spending, monitor costs and create supply chain efficiencies.

PurchasePro's e-MarketMaker technology will also aggregate ESS procurement processes, helping the business to reduce its internal procurement expenditures. PurchasePro will begin training Honeywell users immediately. The private e-marketplace is expected to be operational within 45 days.

Our universal platform will create the opportunity for new efficiencies, cost reductions, and supply-chain automation,'' said Shawn McGhee, chief operating officer at PurchasePro. In addition, PurchasePro will provide a public e-marketplace and an e-procurement system that will serve customers of myFacilities.com.
