McLean, VA September 24, 2001 KPMG Consulting has been awarded one of two Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs) to provide program management support services for the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Standard Army Management Information Systems (PEO STAMIS). The estimated total value is $277 million, if all options of the agreements are exercised.
PEO STAMIS is the Army's primary organization for developing and managing information technology (IT) systems, which support operations such as recruiting and training soldiers, providing and maintaining soldiers' equipment, planning the movement of supplies and assets, and tracking the Army's personnel.
As one of the two BPA holders, KPMG Consulting will have the opportunity to receive task orders to provide strategy, program management, software acquisition, process improvement, and systems integration services. In addition, KPMG Consulting will also have the opportunity to support PEO STAMIS in attaining level three on the Capability Maturity Model, which is an established criterion for software engineering quality.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to team with PEO STAMIS and help make its portfolio of IT projects more efficient and cost-effective," said Rich Roberts, senior vice president of KPMG Consulting. "Our goal is to help PEO STAMIS standardize its processes so that the organization can deliver consistent, high-quality systems that will meet the needs of Army personnel."
Currently, PEO STAMIS manages over 19 major programs, which are operating at various stages of completion. These programs include logistics, personnel, transportation, and medical systems.
