Distributor uses hosted transaction service to exchange purchasing, invoice documents with growing number of suppliers
St. Paul, MN — June 23, 2003 — Hughes Supply has tapped SPS Commerce to provide its suppliers with access to a hosted transaction service that will allow them to meet Hughes's electronic order management requirements.
Headquartered in Orlando, Fla., Hughes Supply distributes more than 300,000 products through more than 450 branches in 34 states, serving some 75,000 customers in the commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure markets across the United States.
Hughes is extending electronic connectivity across its supplier base, and the distributor has approved SPS Commerce's Enablement and Management Program as a certified solution to electronically integrate its supplier community.
Now, by using SPS Commerce's hosted Transaction Service, suppliers who have not invested in traditional electronic data interchange (EDI) will be able to exchange purchasing and invoice documents with Hughes on an equal footing with those who have, reducing the economic and process burdens inherent in paper, phone and fax transactions.
Over time, Hughes intends to increase the percentage of future business it conducts with electronically enabled vendors, and this current relationship positions SPS Commerce to conduct additional enablement programs for existing and future Hughes' suppliers.
Archie Black, CEO of SPS Commerce, said, "By extending the breadth of its supply chain integration with our suite of services, Hughes Supply is able to further realize the value of a streamlined supply chain through reduced costs and the improved ability to collaborate with its suppliers and customers."
