Electronic manufacturing service provider to manage commodity cost and accelerate the quotation process

San Jose, CA — July 7, 2003 — Cost management solutions provider Tradec Inc. today announced that electronic manufacturing services provider Jabil Circuit Inc., has globally deployed the Tradec Cost Management System (TCMS).

Jabil Circuit said it is using Tradec's system to improve customer responsiveness by accelerating its supplier quotation and customer proposal process. In addition, Jabil said it is using Tradec's commodity cost management capabilities to manage the cost of direct material.

Tradec explained that its system allows Jabil's Material Quote Analysts and Global Commodity Managers to collaborate online with its 5,000 suppliers while sharing and putting to work data across all worldwide locations. The provider said that with TCMS, Jabil expects to reduce its average quote turnaround.

According to the electronics manufacturing services provider, it is also using Tradec's commodity cost management capabilities to manage commodity costs to accelerate its cost reduction cycles, negotiate, lower its direct material spend, and strengthen relationships with preferred suppliers.

"The success of today's environment depends on higher levels of information, efficiency and speed," said Mike Ward, vice president, operations development and supply chain management at Jabil. "We are continually investigating new ways to improve our supply chain processes, implementing the latest solutions. Tradec will allow us to increase velocity while creating efficiencies."
