The Hershey Company And Ferrero Joins A Warehouse And Distribution Alliance

Somerset, NJ: The Ferrero Group announced that it has entered into an alliance with The Hershey Company in the US and Canada to improve supply chain processes through a joint warehousing and transportation initiative.

This partnership is consistent with Ferrero's stated mission to bring high-quality fresh products to consumers in as an environmentally-sustainable manner as possible. It also supports the Group's sustainability strategy to reduce its carbon footprint through more efficient supply chain operations.

This alliance pertains only to Supply Chain processes. It does not involve manufacturing, selling or marketing activities. The goal is to enable both companies to service its customers in a more efficient and sustainable way, for example, through shared warehousing facilities and transport.

Giuseppe D'Angelo, area manager for the Ferrero Anglo/Americas region, comments: "We are in the early stages of launching this venture but are already excited about its potential to improve Supply Chain operations. And Hershey is the ideal partner to work with us to achieve this goal."

Ferrero is the fourth largest confectionery company in the world selling popular global brands like Tic Tac, Nutella and Ferrero Rocher. Ferrero originates from Alba, Italy and is a respected, well-known brand in many parts of the world. In its CSR Report for 2010, Ferrero highlights numerous social responsibility strategies in the environmental and human resource areas. For example, at Group level, it has set a target of a 30 percent cut in direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions from transportation and storage activities.

Hershey is the leading confectioner in the US offering a wide range of favorite products such as Hershey's Chocolate, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Kisses, Kit Kat, Twizzlers, Ice Breakers and Jolly Rancher. Hershey also markets the premium brands Scharffen Berger and Dagoba, offered through the Artisan Confections Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary. It has a strong focus on environmental stewardship and positively impacting society and local communities.
