Owings Mills, MD: Cryo-Trans Inc., (CTI) the largest builder and leasor of refrigerated railcars in North America, and McCain Foods USA, part of global giant McCain Foods Ltd., announced that CTI will take over the management of McCain’s private fleet of mechanically refrigerated boxcars immediately. To manage the fleet, CTI will fully implement its Rail Management Program with its two-way GPS capabilities in order to create more efficient fleet operations and expedited railcar movements. CTI will also take over all aspects of Mechanical Protective Service for the fleet, using its international network of service providers. The McCain private fleet will soon be supplemented by the addition of new 72 foot interior-length, state of the art refrigerated boxcars, also manufactured by CTI, and leased to McCain. McCain’s refrigerated fleet will exceed 140 cars with the addition of the new cars.

“The selection of CTI to operate our expanded private boxcar fleet will lead to greater fleet efficiencies and better asset utilization,” said Vito Parise, senior director of distribution, McCain Foods USA. “It will allow McCain to continue to improve our overall supply chain efficiencies as we focus on better serving our customers.”

“CTI is excited to be selected by McCain as a partner in their frozen rail supply chain, and we look forward to applying our expertise to help our customer maximize the potential of their frozen rail program,” said Dwight Price, director, sales and marketing, Cryo-Trans Inc.
