Are Bugs the Sustainable Food of the Future?

Toronto food event promotes bugs as the next great global sustainable food source

Food-culture company Alimentary Initiatives will host  "Beer & Bugs Friday" this week in Toronto, an event where they bring together artists and musicians, thinkers and chefs, mixologists and theorists to ponder and taste the future. The current series features crickets, and considering already two billion people worldwide already eat over 1,500 different species of bugs, the event aims to shatter the rest of the world's distaste for crunching on crickets.

This is the second Future Food Salon from Alimentary, following an April event at the Centre for Social Innovation and a New York tasting in August. A European tour is in the works. To read more, click HERE.
