Alliance Shippers Chooses PAR Logistics Management Systems For 'The Perfect Shipment'

PAR to deploy two-way trailer monitoring solution to the largest refrigerated intermodal carrier in North America.

New Hartford, NY: PAR Logistics Management Systems (PAR LMS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of PAR Technology Corp., announced that Alliance Shippers Inc. will outfit its entire fleet of 1,700 refrigerated trailers with PAR's Two-Way Monitoring and Control System.

Alliance is one of North America's largest independently-owned providers of global logistics and transportation services. Through more than 50 regional and international sales and operating facilities strategically located in the US, Canada, and Mexico, Alliance offers shippers worldwide a full-service/single-source team approach to providing The Perfect Shipment via state-of-the-art rail, highway, ocean and air transportation services.

PAR's solution provides real-time temperature monitoring on a continual basis during transit over the road or rails and provides immediate alerts to Alliance's fleet operations of any variances in the temperature or refrigerated trailer's operating mode.

"Alliance was a very early adopter of reefer monitoring technology and when it came time to upgrade our equipment we evaluated all the providers in the industry," says Ed Wright, alliance shippers vice president, refrigerated division. "We decided to switch to PAR's monitoring system for their technology, their willingness to learn our business and their outstanding customer service."

PAR's tracking and information system generates the information needed to monitor and control refrigerated trailer temperatures, react and respond to alarms, and optimize logistics and management of cold chain assets and resources. Customized reporting provides users with alerts and alarms on variances to refrigerated trailer temperatures, operability, low fuel, abnormal/excessive fuel consumption, and excessive dwell time. If cold chain requirements call for temperature monitoring at the product level, PAR provides an independent hard-wired product temperature probe to monitor and report every 15 minutes.

"The demands of refrigerated intermodal transportation are enormous especially with no tractor operator or driver to intervene along the rails," said John Sammon III, president, PAR LMS. "We are pleased to have our technology monitoring system vetted and chosen by Alliance Shippers and are proud to add them to our growing number of quality customers in the "cold chain" marketplace."
