Atlanta Ñ March 7, 2003 Ñ Velant, a provider of transportation planning solutions, has named Ron Gable as its new president, replacing company founder Dr. Don Ratliff, who continues as CEO.
In a statement, Velant said Gable would be working with Ratliff and other management staff to aggressively grow Velant's client base and exceed client expectations for results.
Prior to joining Velant, Gable was general manager of the enterprise business unit at Scient, where he had profit-and-loss responsibility for 60 percent of the consulting firm's business. He has also served as vice president of global supply chain for the Campbell Soup Co., where he led worldwide purchasing, manufacturing, customer service, engineering, distribution and transportation.
Previously, Gable served as managing partner for the manufacturing and supply chain consulting practice at Coopers & Lybrand. Earlier in his career, he was a principal at A.T. Kearney in the logistics practice.
Gable holds a B.S. degree in industrial engineering from the University of Tennessee and is a course instructor at The Logistics Institute of the Georgia Institute of Technology.
