Bumble Bee Foods, according to Forbes, has seen success after starting use of blockchain technology in the fall of 2018.
The company, the top provider of shelf-stable seafood in North America, produces items like canned tuna, salmon and clams, and works also in frozen goods.
The blockchain project has focused around handline fisheries in Indonesia, and tracks products from fishers to final consumers. Bumble Bee partnered with software company SAP for the project, and launched in February of this year.
Using a QR code, customers can scan and find details like the location and method of the fish’s capture.
