New York: L&R Distributors Inc. (L&R), the largest non-foods specialty distributor in the continental United States, has aquired the non-foods and general merchandise business of United Natural Foods Inc. (UNFI).
This line of business was originally acquired by UNFI as part of its acquisition of Millbrook Distribution Services Inc. As part of this acquisition, L&R will become UNFI's non-foods distributor of choice. This alliance brings together the largest specialty general merchandise distributor (L&R) with the largest distributor of natural, organic and specialty foods in North America (UNFI).
The acquisition continues L&R's strategic growth within the supermarket trade both nationally and regionally. L&R remains committed to be the best in class distributor providing competitive pricing, outstanding service levels, in-store merchandising and "first to market" programs.
