Lane Southern Orchards Selects HarvestMark Traceability Solution

Peach farming operation is latest to implement HarvestMark for PTI compliance programs.

Redwood City, CA: YottaMark Inc. announced that Lane Southern Orchards has selected its HarvestMark fresh food traceability solution for its PTI compliance needs, furthering the solution's adoption throughout North America.

Founded in 1908 in Fort Valley, GA, Lane Southern Orchards is a fifth-generation business that has been a trusted provider of peaches and pecans for more than a century. Today, the business features a state-of-the-art packinghouse facility with the capacity to pack and ship up to one million 25-lb. cartons of peaches each season. In addition, the 5,000-acre location welcomes more than 300,000 visitors annually to its farmer's market, restaurant and bakery.

"For more than 100 years, we've prided ourselves on delivering only the highest-quality produce to our customers," says Duke Lane III, vice president, Lane Southern Orchards. "We selected HarvestMark because it offers us a simple, cost-effective solution to achieve PTI compliance. In addition, HarvestMark provides us with a wealth of information about our cases of products as they move throughout the supply chain, allowing us to monitor and ensure our quality standards are consistently met."

The HarvestMark PTI suite of solutions provides packers and shippers easy-to-install and simple-to-use tools to print PTI compliant case and RPC labels either on-demand or in advance; at the packing shed, on a pack-out line, in the field or at a cooler. Producers can easily associate additional information with a case, such as GPS coordinates, crew ID or pallet ID. Each label is printed with a unique HarvestMark Code that can be traced on the web at HarvestMark.com or simply scanned with a smartphone running the HarvestMark app, enabling instant traceability anywhere in the supply chain.

"We're pleased to support Lane Southern Orchards in its efforts to implement PTI solutions and continue its tradition of providing high-quality produce to its customers," says J. Scott Carr, CEO of YottaMark. "As the PTI implementation deadline approaches, we are proud to work with growers like Lane, who not only want to comply with the deadline, but are also eager to gain new insights into the quality and freshness of their produce."
