Two transportation logistics companies, Coyote Logistics LLC and Access America Transport, announced today that they are merging. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2006, privately held Chicago-based Coyote specializes in the brokerage of truck freight logistics and serves a range of customers, from the food and beverage sector to heavy industry.
"Our HQ is still in Chicago and will remain here," a company spokesperson said in an email. "We are adding roughly 500 employees from Access America and still sticking to our hiring plan for 2014 and beyond."
Access America Transport, a Chattanooga, Tenn.-based company, was founded in 2002 and specializes in multimodal transportation including truckloads, flatbeds and intermodal methods of transport.
Upon closure of the merger, the combined company will be one of the largest logistics providers in North America with revenues of more than $2 billion, 17 North American locations and 1,750 employees, according to the company.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome the Access America team to the pack," Coyote CEO and co-founder Jeff Silver said in a statement. "This merger reinforces our relentless commitment to shippers and carriers across North America. We now have more resources and better capacity to serve them."
Jeff Silver will continue as Coyote's CEO, and Chad Eichelberger, president of AAT, will serve as the combined company's president of brokerage, the company said. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the month.
