HarvestMark Expands Into Citrus And Tropical Produce Categories

Nico Commodityes selects HarvestMark for its Mexican, Brazilian, Peruvian and Costa Rican production.

Redwood City, CA: YottaMark, Inc., the leader in traceability and authentication solutions, announced that Nico Commodityes SA de CV has selected its HarvestMark fresh food traceability solution for their produce traceability initiative (PTI) compliance needs and as a platform for business intelligence. The Mexico-based company packs and ships a wide range of vegetables, citrus and tropical produce items grown in Mexico, Brazil, Peru and Costa Rica to Europe, Asia and the United States.

“Traceability is an important part of our food safety and quality management program,” said Mario Cordova, CEO, Nico Commodityes. “Implementing compliance with the produce traceability initiative this season not only meets our buyers’ compliance requirements, it also establishes a platform for business insights that will help us drive quality and freshness. We selected HarvestMark as our platform as it is the most respected and widely deployed solution in Mexico with a very experienced team and the most powerful tools.”

The HarvestMark team and their Mexico-based partner, AgroSupport of Mexico, worked closely with Nico Commodityes to design the best solution for their business needs. Nico Commodityes will deploy HarvestMark PTI to simplify the GTIN assignment process and to apply PTI-compliant labels to each case at their farms.

Every case from Nico Commodityes will now include a unique HarvestMark code that will enable instant traceability anywhere in the supply chain. Cases can be traced on the web at HarvestMark.com or scanned with the HarvestMark iPhone app, enabling instantaneous access to information and a unique platform for improving quality and freshness.

“Nico Commodityes’ decision to implement an external traceability program clearly signals their leadership and commitment to a safe and efficient supply chain,” said J. Scott Carr, president and CEO, YottaMark. “Our partnership with Nico brings HarvestMark into important new markets and onto new commodities, further expanding our reach and scope.”

The HarvestMark PTI suite of solutions provides packers and shippers easy-to-install and simple-to-use tools to print PTI compliant case labels either on-demand or in volume; at the packing shed, on a pack-out line, in the field or at a cooler. Producers can also easily associate additional information with a case, such as logos, GPS coordinates, crew ID or pallet ID. Each label is also printed with a unique HarvestMark Code that makes the case traceable at HarvestMark.com.
