Edenworks, an aquaponics startup in New York City, is working to replicate all the richness of soil by figuring out the chemistry to create tasty, nutritious food on a Manhattan ironworks rooftop, according to Triple Pundit, an online news source for environmentally conscious businesses. Edenworks began one year ago with a $20,000 grant from New York University’s Green Grant Program. Now nearing completion of a 1,000-square-foot flagship farm, Edenworks sits on the top floor of a commercial ironworks in New York City. A network of sensors continually monitor the environmental chemistry of the farm. When harvested, the food is tasted, going through a regime by a professional chef.
