A shipment of pomegranate seeds contaminated with hepatitis A from Turkey infected 136 individuals. Incoming shipments from Goknur Foodstuffs Import Export Trading have been halted but it is it enough to stop further outbreaks? Michael Taylor, deputy commissioner for foods and veterinary medicine at the FDA told NPR, “I do think that the hepatitis A outbreak is a wonderful snapshot of the make up of the global food system and the challenges it presents for food safety.
