Much Work To Improve Imported Food Safety

Recent report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) states there is a great deal of effort to be done by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to improve the management of food beyond the U.S. border.


The GAO proposes the FDA should shift its plans to improve import oversight to evaluate foreign countries’ food safety systems for individual food products, not just their food safety systems as a whole.
