CSX Corporation has changed how it calculates train velocity, terminal dwell and cars online, key metrics for which the railroad has recently taken criticism.

CSX's new calculation of train velocity will include time for crew changes, freight car pick-up and other activities that were previously excluded. President and CEO Hunter Harrison said the changes would make the metrics more accurate.
