Murphy Logistics, a fourth-generation, family-owned logistics provider based in Minneapolis, Minn., has added two new logistics campuses in Kansas City, Mo.

Located at 6000 Stilwell St. and 1902 Warren St. N., the new location has a total 150,000 square feet, which triples the amount of square footage Murphy operates in Kansas City. In addition, these sites now provide rail access for Murphy clients – an important plus, since rail can be a more cost-effective way to ship goods for many clients, noted Paul Welna, chief operating officer for Murphy.

“Kansas City is strategically a very important logistics hub in the U.S. and we are pleased to be able to expand our presence here, particularly with our rail access – something our Kansas City clients have been asking for,” Welna said.

In 2012, Murphy expanded out of Minnesota for the first time in the company's 110-year history, leasing a 50,000-square-foot facility in Kansas City's Paseo Industrial District. Murphy's two new Kansas City facilities will allow the company to continue to grow in this important transportation center.

Murphy currently operates more than 2.8 million square feet with 13 logistics campuses in Minnesota and Missouri. The company is known for its plant support program, which enables Murphy to serve as an important partner to manufacturers at every step of their production processes, from handling raw materials to assembling products to shipping finished goods. The company is also known for its green initiatives and sustainable business practices, including LED lighting, solar panels and native prairie plantings.
