Weber Distribution Opens Seattle Region Distribution Center

Santa Fe Springs, CA: Weber Distribution, a West Coast logistics and supply chain management provider, announced that it will open a hub facility located in Seattle, Washington to meet its customers’ increasing needs for both less-than-load trucking and cross-docking services in the Pacific Northwest.

Located just 17 miles from the Port of Tacoma, the newly constructed warehouse will serve as a cross-docking and storage facility, providing local and West Coast LTL and full truckload service to and from the Pacific Northwest. Weber will handle extensive pool distribution inbound shipments from points east of the Rockies and LTL deliveries from shippers throughout the Western United States, utilizing its fleet of tractors, reefer trailers and small cube trucks for specialty delivery services. The facility will also offer high quality temperature-controlled product handling, meeting all food-grade standards and requirements, as well as dry storage and transportation options. The facility is centrally located, which makes it an excellent logistics hub for the Seattle/Tacoma commercial community and beyond.

“With our expanded LTL trucking network and new fleet of 150 refrigerated trailers, we needed a Seattle-based facility to handle our customers’ inbound pool distribution requirements for the Pacific Northwest region from product arriving from our Oregon, California, Arizona and Nevada facilities,” says John Nutt, Weber’s Chief Operating Officer. “A variety of top-named companies have an immediate need for the new Seattle facility, including Brach’s, Chef Solutions, Worlds Finest Chocolate and Pfizer/Capsugel.”

The Seattle facility will use Weber’s Warehouse Management System, known as LINKS, designed to supply Weber’s customers with direct visibility and control over their inventory via the Internet. LINKS uses a combination of the latest radio-frequency equipment and barcodes to track the real-time movement of Weber’s customers’ products into and out of its warehouses. LINKS is seamlessly integrated with Weber’s TransLINKS TMS system, which provides web-based visibility to its transportation customers.

“This facility will help supply a solid distribution network for Weber’s customers in the Pacific Northwest with its close proximity to the Port of Tacoma,” said Nutt “Weber has always had a strong presence and expertise in draying, warehousing, and distributing retail import traffic out of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and we look forward to bringing our regional distribution expertise to the Pacific Rim gateways.”
