Wooddale, IL: Videojet Technologies Inc., a manufacturer of coding, printing and laser marking products and accessories has agreed to acquire Prism Inc., a Duluth, GA-based developer of variable data control products in the packaging and printing industries. Together, the companies will provide the industry’s most comprehensive systems for track-and-trace applications.
To protect brands against increasingly prevalent product counterfeiting and diversion tactics, as well as streamlining recall processes, track-and-trace systems have become a leading solution. The combined expertise of Videojet and PRISM will create a single source to design and implement turnkey track-and-trace programs — including production line control systems, code generation and printing, data storage and in-field Web portals.
“Videojet recognizes the market need for a solutions provider that can actually deploy an effective, seamless track-and-trace system in a production environment,” says Craig Purse, president of Videojet Technologies Inc. “Our acquisition of Prism puts us in the unique position to meet that need. Videojet and PRISM have partnered on many track-and-trace initiatives over the past three years, so the joining of these companies was a natural fit.”
