Phoenix: According to the Associated Press, a huge blaze destroyed two warehouses belonging to refrigerated truck brokerage provider Knight Transportation, in the Phoenix area. The fire started in a 200-yard-long stack of wood pallets and consumed at least 30 trailers at a loading dock. Knight Transportation had been refurbishing wood pallets in the warehouses, according to the AP.
The fire toppled power lines and produced a plume of smoke visible for miles as crews tried to contain it, officials said. At least 150 firefighters responded to the fire and nearby businesses were evacuated, though no injuries were reported.
Two block-long warehouses in the industrial area were gutted and one of them collapsed. Several explosions were heard and firefighters worked to keep several propane tanks from being engulfed.
Both warehouses were owned by national trucking firm Knight Transportation, which makes its pallets at one of them.
The fire's cause was unclear, although some reports blamed a blown transformer.
