Kroger To End Service Agreement With Livonia Warehouse

Detroit: Kroger Co. officials have just announced that the company is ending a service agreement with its main warehouse in the Detroit area. Kroger will shift all of its Michigan grocery store product to a facility it operates in Delaware, Ohio by the end of March 2008. According to a statement released by the company, Kroger began moving some of its Michigan inventory to the Delaware facility more than a year ago.

Employees at the Warehouse actually work for SuperValu, not Kroger.

Kroger said the distribution facility in Delaware allows Kroger to better serve stores and customers because it offers increased capability and efficiency.

“With the expanded number of products serviced from Delaware, the facility allows Kroger to better utilize multiple-temperature trailers, which can carry a mix of refrigerated, frozen and room temperature grocery items on a single truck,” according to a press release.
