Yearsley Buys Land In Peterborough For Cold Storage Facility

Cold storage specialist The Yearsley Group has completed the purchase of a 20 acre plot at Roxhill’s 240-acre Gateway Peterborough site.

Cold storage specialist The Yearsley Group announced late last week that they have completed the purchase of a 20 acre plot at the new 240-acre Gateway Peterborough site being developed by Roxhill Developments, where they plan to build new infrastructure which includes a new 18MVA power supply, which will be of particular interest to occupiers such as manufacturers and frozen logistic operators who have large electricity requirements.

Parcels firm DPD has already signed up for 37,000 sq ft at the site with planning permission for up to 5m sq ft of warehouse and industrial space.

Work is soon set to begin on a £11m upgrade to the main link roads to the site. The work will result in a significant re-development of the A1139 Fletton Parkway and links to Junction 17 of the A1(M) which will enable the route to manage a substantial increase in traffic capacity.

Gateway Peterborough, which is on the A1(M) north-south road as well as the nearby A14 east-west link to Felixstowe, can accommodate buildings up to 1.3m sq ft.

Charles Blake, development director for Roxhill Developments, said: “Works are also soon set to begin on the main link roads to the site that will significantly increase the local traffic capacity for occupiers. This improvement, coupled with the future A14 upgrade, will make Gateway Peterborough one of the UK’s most well-connected distribution sites."
