There's been an interesting exchange of counter opinions this week between the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for a Livable Future and the Animal Agriculture Alliance, with conflicting reports about the animal agriculture industry and its practices.
The Center for a Livable Future released their report on Tuesday entitled “Industrial Food Animal Production in America: Examining the Impact of the Pew Commission’s Priority Recommendations,” which was highly critical of animal agriculture, calling for increased government regulation of antimicrobial use, animal welfare practices and nutrient management. But the Animal Agriculture Alliance beat them to the punch, releasing their own report titled “Advances in Animal Agriculture: What the Center for a Livable Future, Pew Commission and Others Aren’t Telling You About Food Production,” to defend their methods and track record of improvements.
