US Government Shutdown: FDA vs. USDA

Both the USDA and the FDA inspect our food supply, but only one agency is still working


I'm sure you may be sick to your stomach with all of the U.S. government shutdown coverage, but the folks at Food Safety News have put together a piece that points out the well-known fact that USDA and meat inspections continue but the FDA, in charge of inspecting 80 percent of the food supply, has been told to turn off their cell phones until congress acts.

While in the short term it's business as usual, but if our non-leaders in Washington continue to squabble the long term problems count mount quickly, especially if there's an emergency or an outbreak. To read more, click HERE.
