Businesses Fight Back on War on Styrofoam

Legislation proposing a ban on polystyrene is being critisized from some in the food industry

The move by cities and counties across the U.S. in proposing outright bans on polystyrene, the material used in Styrofoam cups, takeaway containers and packing supplies, to no surprise is not getting much support from franchisees and others in the food supply chain.

Legislation proposed in Portland, Maine, was sent back to a committee for review recently when the International Franchise Association (IFA) sent it's director to aid their cause in Maine and raised questions whether alternatives to polystyrene are any better for the environment than polystyrene itself.
